TRAIN

Having seen the band previously and hearing great reports from their other Australian shows, I was expecting nothing less than the amazing performance delivered by the chart topping Train. In lead singer Pat Monahan, the band certainly have one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock today, but importantly, he possesses a killer voice, illustrated by his performance of the first verse “When I Look To The Sky” without microphone. For the Train faithful who have been with the band over the 15 or so years of their existence, the setlist delivered everything you could of wanted....with the added fun of Pat crowd surfing, the “Trainette’s” who added their flavour to “She’s On Fire” and a level of intimacy in the performance befitting of a tiny venue, rather than the expanses of the Forum Theatre. The band return in October this year, so definitely looking forward to the repeat performance!
The 3 songs I was allowed to shoot for was a photographers delight. Bright lighting, a nice open stage, plenty of movement and expressiveness from Pat and a drummer that was easily accessible through the lens, which is a nice bonus! Having shot at the venue the week before and having done my research on the Train guys prior to the show....I went there with high expectations of some great shots and I definitely delivered!

Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there’s time to grow, hey, hey”
